Comprised of six women, Angelus is dedicated to the performance of sacred music from a variety of religious traditions and historical periods. Angelus performs repertoire ranging from medieval chant and polyphony to the American Sacred Harp tradition and contemporary Irish works. The ensemble tours nationally and has produced three recordings. Admission by audition only.

Created in 1993, the MVHS Children’s Theatre performs works designed for young audiences and stages their annual production in the fall. The Children’s Theatre is a student-led project and admission is by application and audition.
A men’s vocal ensemble, Cúl performs a wide variety of music created specifically for men’s voices. Repertoire ranges from Doo Wop to contemporary works by “They Might Be Giants” and “The King’s Singers”
A long standing tradition at MVHS, musical theatre productions are scheduled for the spring of the year and encompass a broad range of classic American musicals, newer productions and occasionally, rarely performed works. Over the course of four years, a student should experience at least four different types of theatre works. Recent productions include Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The King and I, Curtains, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Anything Goes and Once Upon a Mattress.
MVHS Thespian Troupe #982 is allied with the International Thespian Society, a worldwide organization of theatre students and educators at the middle and high school level. The troupe produces at least one show each year and troupe members are involved in each of the other three productions staged at the school.
Troupe members also participate in the Ropewalk Writers Retreat in New Harmony, IN each Spring.
The MVHS Chapter of USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) is a student organization allied with technical theatre professionals throughout the United States. As members, students are afforded the opportunity to participate in the Annual Conference and Stage Expo. The chapter sponsors an annual “Workshops for Theatre” series which features entertainment technology experts from different industries each Spring. The chapter also sponsors an annual tricycle race for charity called “The Short Reach Short Riders”.
The Mt. Vernon Winter Guard is an extra-curricular activity that begins in mid November. The participants are selected from an audition following a week of dance, rifle, saber, and flag training. Once selected the student work to perfect a four minute competition show. The students travel on weekends from January to April throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee to compete with other Winter Guards.
